Beconcini - Antiche Vie Chianti DOCG 2013
80% Sangiovese with Canaiolo and Malvasia Nera. No oak. Alc. 13% by vol.
2013 Pietro Beconcini “Antiche Vie” Chianti is quite intensely coloured for a Chianti. An absence of oak maturation sees a ruby hue maintained, although this wine is quite deeply coloured at the centre of the glass. This richness of colour makes the alcoholic legs easy to see when it is swirled, with 13% abv the declared alcoholic content.
Medium bodied and very well balanced in the mouth, this Chianti offers a rounded mouthfeel featuring the dark fruits and hints of spice from the nose. Sangiovese’s typically high acidity is beautifully well managed and integrated with the rest as are the tannins. Respectably long, this Chianti lingers with pure cherry and plum notes.
This Chianti should be consumed in the next two years to retain the beautiful purity of expression that it currently offers. Pair with cold meats, or meaty pasta sauces. Around 30,000 bottles were produced.
